A lengthy (but EXCELLENT) 2019 exploration of Hnath’s upbringing, style, and projects. This piece is particularly thorough and even includes short segments from a variety of Hnath’s scripts. Author D. T. Max has crafted this piece to look inside Hnath’s mind, examining his influences and most important characteristics.

This 2015 article in The New York Times details Hnath’s process for writing The Chrisitans as it began to make its debut at a number of theatres across the country (and overseas). Hnath comments on his inspirations and reactions, but chooses not to divulge too many personal details, similar to his reluctance to take a side in A Doll’s House, Part 2.

He mentions various philosophers and schools of thought that he has become familiar with, all while examining some of the most effective aspects of his work so far.

This short piece showcases some of the unsung heroes of A Doll’s House, Part 2; the scholars that Hnath and producer Scott Rudin called upon to fine tune the historical contexts of the play. These women, experts in literature, feminism, and psychology, assisted with some of the research conducted while writing and, eventually, many of them saw the show on Broadway.

This interview between Broadway.com’s Beth Stevens and playwright Lucas Hnath was published in April 2019 as Hillary and Clinton was performing on Broadway. The two discuss Hnath’s process for rewriting and developing pieces over time and his interest in writing familiar characters while challenging expectations.

This 2014 article, published by American Theatre, is a glimpse into the earlier works of Hnath’s career. Author Diep Tran comments that many of Hnath’s plays comment on frustration and anger, which has continued to be true throughout the years.
